Michael Kemmitt is my Grandfather. He married Margaret McQuade (granny) and they had 5 children, the youngest was my Mum, Celia. According to previous posts, this was his Mother's name. I know that Michael was born in Sligo in 1889. Can anyone help me find his birth record?

This Search will get Births anywhere between 1880 and 1899 on

which is Irish Govt BDM Website and one can get any Civil Reg Certs, free.

There is a security Captcha to solve and one can use initials to sign in,  Safe site, no sub needed.

Many Thanks Hallmark,
I'm afraid Michael Kemmitt is proving to be a bit of an enigma. I have marriage documents relating to his marriage to my granny in Glasgow. Also have my Mum's birth certificate and marriage documents. His year of birth is given as 1889. The census record link for 1901 earlier in this thread has him living in Sligo town although the surname spelling is Kemmett and not as Kemmitt.  Still can't find him though. Is it common for surname spelling to change?

I wonder if he could be the Murty which links to the incorrect image.

Just what someone wrote down!

You can use Kemm* to look for variations.

e.g   Kemm*, Sligo and tick Deaths 1890 1901   to get Death of wife before 1901 Census etc

The birth I posted above is KIMMITT- just searched for Michael (no surname) 1889-1889 Sligo district and only a few results so easily found.

Wonderful!  Many thanks to everyone who has helped me out with this today.
