Thomas Bullen born abt 1802 Wortwell Norfolk
« on: Sunday 25 October 15 17:26 GMT (UK) »
Hi all

We are looking for the parents of Thomas Bullen born about 1802 in Wortwell Norfolk.
He married Phoebe Fairhead in 1823 Alburgh Norfolk. She was born about 1802, Broome Norfolk.

We can find the paerents of Phebe, however not Thomas.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Neil

Hello

Freereg has a few baptisms for a Thomas Bullen in Norfolk around 1802.

One in Kings Lynn, 8/2/1801, parents Francis and Bulah
One in Redenhall, 17/1/1802 (born November 1801), parents James and Mary (Downing)
One in Great Bircham, 19/2/1804, parents William and Temperance.

I'm afraid that my knowledge of the geography of Norfolk is non-existent, and I don't know if any of these places are near Wortwell.  Perhaps the names of Thomas and Phoebe's children give a clue.

Freereg has Thomas's name as Ballen on the marriage record.  One of the witnesses is Mary Ballen, obviously a relative.

The only online records are for non-conformist church at Wortwell cum Harleston.

'The hamlet of Wortwell seems to have been part of Mendham parish, an odd parish that had a section in Suffolk as well as Norfolk. In 1885 the land was redistributed, the Norfolk part of Mendham being split between the new parish of Wortwell and its neighbour to the west, Redenhall with Harleston.  - See more at: http://www.heritage.norfolk.gov.uk/record-details?TNF1291-Wortwell-(Parish-Summary)#sthash.NMnWiZ93.dpuf

From this I would think the Thomas baptised at Redenhall is your man (although he may well have been born in the hamlet of Wortwell).
