Many thanks Maggie,
I was following forward all the descendants of Alexander Fielding and Janet Henry in an attempt to find a clue to their past. These Cory children are Alexander and Janet's great great grandchildren.
Alas, having done that I'm no further forward or in this case backward than when I started. It has been a very interesting journey though  :)

Mabel, very interesting indeed wonder if there were any children? Edit - looks possible but she may be still alive so I'll not post.

Many thanks to Mabel and Maggie you have help me move forward with my never ending story of the Fieldings....

I've found Winifred and Charles on the 1939 Register, he's listed as a methodist minister - his dob is given as August 9th 1900 and the couple are living in Derbyshire. I've double checked Charles Horace F Cory's birth it was registered third quarter 1900. I must have taken 1901 from the census  :-[  I checked - the boarding school lists him as age 9 in 1911. It does however list all his names so I'm pretty sure it's the correct boy.
It looks like Charles and Winifred's daughter married later in life, no children showing for the couple that I can see.

I think that only leaves me Dorothy May Cory born June quarter 1905 to follow through on...

I've had a look for anyone dying at the Ophir Lodge Nursing Home in Bournemouth around 1911. There's an newspaper article regarding a certain Lieutenant-Colonel Arthur Jebb who died there in 1915 looks like he was definitely failing mentally and perhaps suffering with a bit of a drink problem.

Hi there,

You might have seen this already but, taken with the information about Arthur Jebb, it could be a hint as to what form of care was provided at the 25 Ophir Road home.

Head of household and 'Nurse (medical)' when Marian Fielding Cory was a patient there in 1911 was Charles Thomas. He was working in 1891 and 1901 as an 'attendant' and 'asylum hall porter' at the Brookwood Asylum at Woking, Surrey.

I'd been looking at Charles trying to prove or disprove whether or not his wider Thomas family is connected to my lot when that Ophir Road address led me here.

Best regards, Tony.
