Robert Henry Brown 1918
« on: Wednesday 28 October 15 17:30 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone provide information on the above. I believe he is my biological grandfather who was in the Labour Corps of 1917-18. His name appears on the birth certificate of my father Robert Henry Norris who was born in Canterbury but brought up in Portsmouth. The mother was Charlotte Norris nee Hatton and the address at the time of birth 5.8.18 was 3 south or saint radigund street Canterbury

A quick search on ancestry doesn't show a Robert Henry Brown in the Labour Corps, but I will keep looking.
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Kelsey, Crampton, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Warwickshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.

There is a Robert Henry Brown of the 14th Service Battalion, Middlesex Regiment, Service No. 801. Born Ontario, Canada.   Looks like he transferred to the Military Police though  :-\

Military records give an address in London plus the address of a sister in Canada.

ADDED: Scrap that.  Im pretty sure Im barking up the completely wrong tree.

Thanks all for help so far- The certified copy Birth certificate was from the registration district of Canterbury No 459 Born on 5.8.18 at 3 S.Radigund street Canterbury. Name Robert Henry Father:Robert Henry Brown Mother Charlotte Norris formerly Hatton of no occupation. Rank or profession of father:C.S.Major317 or 3/7 Worcs Coy, Labour Corps (chauffeur) Signature of informants : R H Brown father C.Norris mother of 3 s.radigund st Canterbury. Registered 14.8.18 Registrar Harry Houldew  The certification at the bottom was signed and witnessed on 4.8.1934 presumably when my father was 16 and about to go into the RAF.
I have investigated C.S.Major Brown service number 9333 who was with the Worcs coy  and for various reasons he can be discounted.
