Are Look ups possible for 1910 Chester le Street?
« on: Saturday 31 October 15 17:01 GMT (UK) »
Quick Q before I chance posting a request: is it even possible for a 1910 Look Up for a marriage in Chester le Street, or would I need to buy  certificate? Thanks

You would need to know which church it took place in

Chester le Street registration district covered a lot of areas

Thanks. I don't know, though I think I have found them in 1911 living in the parish of Urpeth - not that would help much  :(          I have    Volume:10a    Page:916  Charlotte Tuck and Henry Scott  if that's of any use

Hi

That reference is just for ordering from the GRO.  Are you referring to the 1911 entry for Harry & Charlotte Scott as they are the only ones I can see in Urpeth?

I see thanks. Yes, he is a Harry on the census but I think it can be a nickname for Henry? It's Charlotte's Swaffham birth that intrigues me. My problem is Charlotte, who is my 2xGGM, but IF this marriage was hers she was about 63! She was born in Swaffham Norfolk in 1847, married William Tuck 1866 and they came north for the mining. William died in 1908 Chester le Street. I’m really puzzled because I'm thinking I have found them on a 1911 census living in Urpeth BUT although the census shows her as born in Swaffham, it also has 3 sons on, all surnamed Scott. However, these sons almost match three of hers from her marriage to William. There’s either loads of coincidences – particularly Swaffham - or the census data was written to look like one family in one long marriage? I’m hoping the marriage might record their ages or anything else that could be clues to discount it or prove it is my Charlotte.  :-\

Hi

The Durham County Council marriage index can be useful to look at. The entry for  Charlotte Tuck and Henry Scott in 1910 gives Charlotte's other surname as Nelson. If this was  your 2x ggm's maiden name it would suggest that  you  probably have the correct marriage.

William
Dent (Haltwhistle and Sacriston), Bell and Jetson (Haltwhistle), Postle, Ward, Longstaff, Purvis, Manners, Parnaby and Hardy (Co. Durham), Kennedy and McRobert (Banffshire), Reid(Bathgate), Watson (Wemyss), Graham (Libberton), Sandilands (Carmichael), Munro (Dingwall)
