Lily and Albert Morris Richmond and Carshalton Surrey 1914-49
« on: Wednesday 04 November 15 10:36 GMT (UK) »
Hi there, I'm looking for information about Albert and Lily Morris (nee Reid) who lived in Rotherfield Road. Carshalton with their son Lionel Bertram Frank around 1915. After Lionel's death in the Great War, when he was the first Royal Flying Corps pilot to be shot by Manfred von Richthofen, Lily and Albert moved to George Street, Richmond until roughly the 1940s. Albert was a tobacconist and Lily at one point managed a china shop. When Albert died, Lily then moved to the Parkways, Richmond until her death in 1949.

I've attached a pic of Lily taken with other family members Eileen Reid, Lily Reid and Betty Reid, in Richmond in the late 1940s.

If anyone has any information on the Morris (or Reid family) I would be really grateful.

I'm a beginner to Rootschat, so if there's somewhere more appropriate for this post, please do let me know.

Many thanks

Jill

WELCOME TO ROOTSCHAT

I cannot find a marriage between Lily Reid and Alfred Morris, neither can I find their son so far

Her death 1949
Will shows Lily Delilah Ann Morris of 7 Gateways Richmond

Welcome Jill :)

Can you be a bit more specific about what info you'd like to find?

I see that Lionel was 19 when he died in September 1916:

Thank you very much for all this information, how kind of you all to spend so much time looking it up. I realise however that I should have been more specific about what I was looking for as I've already seen all of these documents so my apologies as a newbie! I'm trying to find out more about Albert and Lily's employment initially and wondered if anyone else might have been researching either the Morrises or the Reids and have any family photographs or memories of them. I'm writing a book about Lionel, who was my grandad's cousin and who is well documented on the Internet but we have no family photographs of him, only one of Lily as an old lady. I've been to Kew, the RAF Hendon museum and the Sutton archives - I think I need to go back to all of them to get any further.  Thank you again for all your help, best wishes Jill.
