Rectifying a major error I have made in ancestry.com
« on: Wednesday 04 November 15 21:16 GMT (UK) »
Hello
Even though I have been researching and adding to my tree for 5 years I have now discovered I have made a major but basic error. I have linked my GGGG? Grandfather to the wrong parents and ancestors.
How do I rectify this - I need to give him the right parents ( I currently have him as the son of a cousin of his father). How can I link him to his rightful parents and ancestors without him appearing as a new member? I am sure his descendants are correct so they will need to move with him.
Can any one help? (I have also posted this in another board as I wasn't sure which would get the best response.)

Click on the person in the tree; click on Profile.
Click on Edit (Top Right) and Edit Relationships.

Click on the blue X to delete a relationship.

Then click on "Add Father" and/or "Add Mother".
You will be prompted to search for a person in your tree
   OR
Click on "Add New Person"

Hi Thanks for your advice. I have been able to detach my GGG Grandfather from his cousin's family and have now reattached him to his rightful parents.

I just have the job now of deleting all the hangers on!

Very grateful
Jo

If, as so often happens, others have copied your tree to theirs, might be fun watching them all fall behind the truth!

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe
