Searching for a husband and a divorce record?
« on: Sunday 08 November 15 19:09 GMT (UK) »
Hello! :)

Mary Jane Pound born in Dartmouth, Devon 1931 married Jarvis Lidstone Crimp who was born in Christow, Devon 1933, in St Lukes, London 1863. By 1871 Mary is living in Paignton, Devon with her sister whilst Jarvis is no where to be found? I have only ever been able to find a 1841 & 1851 census so i dont know where he was or with who in 1861, 1871 and 1881?. I know Jarvis moved to Canada and married a Elizabeth Carne in 1891 but Mary Jane didn't die until 1897 and i cant seem to find a divorce on the National Archives website?

Can anyone help??

It is possible that they never divorced as this would have cost money they didn't have.

Also if you move to a whole new county who is really going to check that don't you have a foreign wife?

Just out of curiousity is this him?

This is true! I did think perhaps they didn't divorce..! Would you be able to help me locate his whereabouts in 1871 and 1881?

I'm not sure either. This Jarvis L Crimp was in Australia in 1883.

How sure are you that the Mary Jane Crimp that died in 1897 is your one? Did she die in Devonshire?

The Australian Jarvis L Crimp, lost his wife Mary Jane in 1890 in Sydney.

11433/1890    CRIMP   MARY J   SAMUEL P   MARY J   REDFERN

Were your Mary Jane Pounds parents Samuel and Mary Jane Pound?

57/1907    CRIMP   JARVIS L   NICHOLAS   JANE    SYDNEY

Were Jarvis L Crimps Parents Nicholas and his mother Jane?
