Can anyone tell me what rank the pilot in the photo is please he looks like a Flight Sgt but the bit on the top of the shoulder is confusing me.

He is a sergeant. A flight sergeant would have crown immediately above the three stripes.

The "wings" denote he was a pilot.

The shoulder flash is the eagle worn by all RAF ranks in battle dress.

If you mean the badge at the top of the sleeve, its the bog standard RAF Eagle which appears on all RAF other rank uniforms.
