John PRYOR b 1841 Great Dalby, but which one?
« on: Tuesday 17 November 15 18:41 GMT (UK) »
There are two John Pryors born in the same quarter in Great Dalby  :-\
The one I'm trying to follow did not marry (wife, Jane)  :'(

So, one way to track him is to eliminate the other.  It doesn't get easier though,  for Q1 1862 Loughborough 7a 186, John Prior (sic) married a Mary Ann, but there are two.  I have some PRs for Loughborough All Saints and Emmanuel, also Barrow, Barkby and others but this marriage is not there.  If my gut feeling is right, his father should be George.

Is there anyone who can look up this marriage  ???

Another big ask is the birth registration (to confirm mother's maiden name) for John Meynell Pryor  1874 Q4 Barrow 7a 152.  He gives his place of birth as Barkby.

Any information greatly appreciated.  I've looked at family trees on another site and they give conflicting lines.

Thanks for the information, I haven't followed this line too much until I can be sure that I have the right family.

I THINK that the John Pryor I'm looking for at is the son of Thomas and Ann, and that he didn't marry Jane Hartshorn.

The middle name of Meynell for John Pryor jnr is a bit of a mystery.  Not in immediate maternal lines or even a local name.

Hi
Great Dalby parish register  gives one baptism for John Prior for 1841
John Prior 14 June 1841 parents George & Mary
1842 there is this one John Prior 10 Feb 1842 parents Thomas & Ann
No further information on either entry.
Barkby Parish Register has baptism of John Maynell Prior as 28 March 1875 John & Jane no maiden name given.
I noticed from 1881 census Jane was born in Oakham Rutland perhaps they were married there?

as I understand it they are cousins, John 1842 being the son of Thomas Pryor and Ann Hastings and John 1841 being the son of George Pryor (Thomas's brother) and Mary Hanson hope this helps
