Samuel George Jenner, Epps Road, Milton Regis, Kent
« on: Tuesday 24 November 15 15:33 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I have been tasked with finding out some information about a survivor of WW1.  He was Samuel George Jenner and he was a 2nd rider on the guns (horse drawn).  The 1st gunner was killed and Samuel took his place and saved the gun.

My question is - can anyone point me in the right direction as to Regiment, place, and what medal he would have received.  I know this is a 'shot in the dark' and little further information but any help would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance
Sue

He was in the Royal Field Artillery. There are records for him on the subscription site FindMyPast, he appears to have been recommended for the Military Medal.

Amendment

His records should also be on Ancestry.
His Military Medal was Gazetted the 17 Sept. 1917.  He received shrapnel wounds in his back and leg.

Wow - that was quick.  Does it say what he why he was recommended and whether he actually got the Military Medal?  I have found the Award Roll for the Victory and BWM but nothing about the Military Medal.  Do not have FindMyPast Sub
Thank you

There are quite a few pages and I only skimmed through some of them. Do you have a sub to Ancestry? They should also be on there.

Hi  - thanks
Yes, I do have sub for Ancestry but can't find anything other than census, birth, marriage and death.  plus the two Military bits I mentioned above.

Really need the Military Medal Bits - but I do appreciate your help in this anyway.....thanks again

They are on Ancestry, here is the link.

 http://www.rootschat.com/links/01gjx/

Unfortunately they are not particularly informative, and not about about the MM, there is a letter he wrote enquiring  about it as he had heard nothing more about it, the reply asked if he wanted a public presentation, or to receive the medal by registered pot.
