Hi, don't know if you're still searching but my GG Grandfather was William Ephraim Sayce, or Ephraim William. Either way he was known in our family as Ephie. He was born in Abbeydore, Herefordshire in 1862. He married Susannah May from Stroud, in Birmingham in 1884.

Their daughter, Minnie Emma Sayce was born there in that year. For reasons best be-known to them, they moved to Derby and had a second child William Henry Sayce in 1887.

Minnie married Frank Topley in 1903 and had four children, my Grandmother Edith May (Maggie), Mary Ellen, Frank and Eric. Maggie married an Irishman from Cork, Edward Doherty and I can't even begin to search for that line yet!

Equally, I have not researched their son William Henry Sayce.

I am concentrating on my mother's line. She is one of 16 siblings and it is quite a challenge with the root name of Mee!

Sorry I can't be more help.

Sorry for the late reply - years of ill health have taken me away from this, and I have typically lost all my on-line tree, so am currently re-entering everything (as of last night).

Do you have a link to my Esther? I'm sure I've seen Abbeydore at some point in my records. I suspect there could be a family link somewhere

Sorry to hear about your I’ll health, been there myself!

I’ve not been able to do anymore on the Sayce line as the Mee Bishop tree on my mums side is taking all my energy and time. Drawing blanks, I’m afraid.

Good luck with your searching.
