Death in Bedford infirmary in 1820
« on: Wednesday 09 December 15 12:18 GMT (UK) »
Hi
If anyone is going to Bedford Record Office could they do a quick lookup for me please?
I have a Thomas Gammons died in Bedford Infirmary on 13 May 1820 (according to family). but I had noted that he was buried in Stagsden on 11 May 1820, although I cannot confirm this!
Can someone help me sort out which one is correct please?
Helen

The FindMyPast index at http://search.findmypast.co.uk/search-united-kingdom-records-in-birth-marriage-death-and-parish-records/and_deaths-and-burials?_ga=1.20580016.986418603.1377269437 , taken from the NBI has a Thomas Sammons burial in Stagsden in 1820, age 38, which looks to be the right one. To get the exact burial date you need to buy some credits.

Many thanks for that David, that's confirmed that part! But must admit that's a new variation on me!

The NBI has Thomas Sammons (= Gammons) buried at Stagsden on 11 May 1820 age 38.

The burial register at Beds Archives will confirm this and might say his abode was Bedford Infirmary if indeed he did die at the hospital but most likely would not give date of death. However that would be earlier so 13th May is incorrect.

FYI.   http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=736780.0

interesting... as per NBI; that at Stagsden Beds there's a burial of an Ester Gammonds age 50 on 22 Oct 1826 and one for Campion Gammons infant on 16 Dec 1807 (he was christened at Stagsden on 13 Sept 1807 as per Family Search)

Does your family info also suggest that this Thomas Gammons was baptised Thurleigh in 1778 ?
