Ely Diocese Marriage Licences
« on: Friday 11 December 15 10:10 GMT (UK) »
Some new transcripts of marriage licences are now available on FindMyPast. I believe that the transcriptions are not exactly correct and would like to obtain a copy of the original record.

FindMyPast says these are available at Suffolk Record Office. I've tried 2 of their offices and neither appear to know anything about the originals.

Other option seems to be the Cambs University Library.

Has anyone found or obtained a copy of these specific marriage licences?
If so - how and where?

Merry Christmas to everyone
 :D

I've tried to consult some licences at the UL ... it's pretty chaotic, tbh. They're not indexed or sensibly archived at all ... just in random boxes. I didn't find what I wanted.
All identified names up to and including my great x5 grandparents: Abbot Andrews Baker Blenc(h)ow Brothers Burrows Chambers Clifton Cornwell Escott Fisher Foster Frost Giddins Groom Hardwick Harris Hart Hayho(e) Herman Holcomb(e) Holmes Hurley King-Spooner Martindale Mason Mitchell Murphy Neves Oakey Packman Palmer Peabody Pearce Pettit(t) Piper Pottenger Pound Purkis Rackliff(e) Richardson Scotford Sherman Sinden Snear Southam Spooner Stephenson Varing Weatherley Webb Whitney Wiles Wright

Oh dear - that doesn't sound very encouraging.

After a lot of searching I believe I have finally found a contact name at UL so hopefully I might get a result now.

Fingers crossed
