Came here via Google; I have been searching for info about this particular Francis Halladay, as I believe he is my great-grandfather; his daughter Edith was my father, Royston Halladay Harvey's mother. This thread is a bit old but I thought I may as well ask.

I want to find out if Francis was a member of the Halladay family of Melbourne Hall, Derbyshire, who, allegedly, was cut off by his family for not only getting a maid at the Hall pregnant, but  adopting the child (my grandmother) once she was born.

So is this her birth?

In which case, she was born after the marriage in 1893. (1 March) and Banns were called in February. It is possible. Catherine might have been pregnant at marriage.

Matches censuses when John is a Master Builder.    Do you have the marriage certificate for Francis and Catherine. Does that agree?
