Pol(l)art St BOSWELLS?

Variously spelt POLART or POLLART (St Boswells) on items in my possession dating from c1913; can anyone advise if this is a farm, house or estate?

The family name was ELDER if that helps.

Polart is an old name for the village of Polwarth in Berwickshire between Greenlaw and Duns.

Polwarth Estate has many links to St Boswells and Mertoun over the years even today.

Due to various marriages the Estates are Linked

the old water pump on Main Street at St Boswells was given by the Earl of Polwarth's Family

currently the links go through the Mertoun Estate via the Duke of Sutherland's family

Many thanks terianne another avenue to check our family name was Ker/r (in the borders??)

Best of luck with the ker(r)'s in the Scottish Borders there is loads throughout the social spectrum

Also the Duke of Roxburghe is a Kerr and the Marquis of Lothian at monteviot family are Ker's

So the links with Polwarth may fit and could be interesting

Also the owners (for many years) of the Fens farm at St Boswells are Kerr

Also you mentioned your family was Elder  - up until the late 70s early 80s there was a agricultural engineer company called Elder's at Newtown St Boswells - apparently they originally originated from the Berwick area - (my late dad worked for them in the early 70s)
