I really need some help here. My grandfather's name was Patrick Joseph Hamilton. He was born in May of 1900 between Carndonagh and Glentogher. His parents, Joseph and Cecilia Hamilton had a farm there. My grandpa was the oldest of at least 12 children. Out of all the children my grandpa and great aunt Mary were the only ones to come to North America. My great uncle Phillip went to Hamilton, Scotland. I am trying to find information on hte family. My great uncle John lived all his life on the farm until he passssed on. If anyone out there knows anything on this family please reply to this.

There's a Patrick Joseph Hamilton aged 1 in the 1901 census at a house in Bridge Street, Carndonagh and his parents are Cecily and James Hamilton.  Patrick has an older sister.  Here's a link to the handwritten entry:

and here's a link to the typed overview:

Yes.  ??? But I only looked at it because of the recent posts as I was looking to see what was new since the last time I looked at the Donegal forum. I did not notice the date of the original post.

One of my mother's Dougherty cousins married a McCool. And the brother and sister of the James Hamilton who was mayor of Londonderry both came out to NZ in the 1920s in company with two of the same Dougherty family. They shared a house at first then my grandparents bought the plot of land next door.

Cheers

Linda (NZ).
