can you tell us where John and Emeretta married please
I see that Emeretta was born in Nottingham in 1813
did they marry in Nottingham ?
if we can find their marriage record we might find Johns fathers name mentioned

ADDED
Is this your John Turner ??

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NRXK-958   - parents John and Elizabeth ??

Yes I know the Ancestry tree but cannot find any documentation other than Census records, I would like to verify his birth, marriage or death.

John and Emma - the only info I have is St Peters Anglian Church

if this is your John Turner - here are siblings
Mary Turner 1802    https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N81Q-ZHS
Ellen Turner 1803    https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N81S-VMB
Elizabeth Turner 1811  https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JSG5-F4K
and a probable - but father down as George or John Turner
Sarah Turner 1809  https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N81S-V96

1803 to 1809 is 6 years - maybe they moved out of Ashover during this period and had other children in another village ??
I am going to see if there is a marriage for John and Elizabeth in Ashover around 1800
no luck - can't find a marriage in Ashover

Hi Cheryl and a warm welcome to RootsChat from me :)

Didn't the marriage take place in the Sept qtr 1840 Radford rather than 1837?
I can't see the full marriage details on line so you may have to send for the marriage cert to be certain of his father's name.

Boy this is so confusing and a pain in the ?????, I have found a John Turner baptised 11 Jan 1821 to parents John and Emma, but cannot find anything for birth supposedly 1815. The 1821 makes a bit more sense as he was married in 1840 (I think).

I have sent away for William's birth certificate so I think I will have to wait and see what it comes back with and put searching on hold so I don't go completely mad.

I don't quite understand why you are looking at the 1821 baptism???....on your first post you said John Turner born 1815 in Ashover - I found that baptism on www.familysearch.org   here it is again
