Birth Father Sought - Very Limited Info
« on: Wednesday 16 December 15 12:56 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I'm very new to this so apologies if this is in the incorrect place.

I'm seeking my birth father. I was adopted at birth and managed to trace my birth mother but she has now passed away. She would not give any info on my natural father and all that I know was that his name was John and that he worked for Cam Causeway (I think this was the council highways department at the time) in 1971/2. Am I on a hiding to nowhere?

Hello Jay,

Cam Causeway is a road in the Chesterton area of Cambridge.

As far as I can recall at that time the maintenance of the local roads were administered by  Cambridgeshire County Council, Shire Hall, Castle Hill, Cambridge.

You might try a letter to the local Cambridge paper, it is widely read:-

The Editor, Cambridge News, Winship Road, Milton, Cambridge CB24 6BQ or email letters@cambridge-news.co.uk.  You need to give your full address and daytime telephone number.

Best wishes,
Selina

As has been said, Cam Causeway is the name of a road, in Chesterton, Cambridge. https://goo.gl/maps/oBKkSPQ5kfz

I would add... not one of the better roads :)

Most people living there would most likely have been "local people", living in homes long-term, rather than being bedsits or lodgers.... so it's likely that you can still get a result from your research.
Related to: Lots of people!
