Burial- CARTER, Edwin J
« on: Wednesday 23 December 15 04:24 GMT (UK) »
Looking for burial information:

Edwin J Carter born about 1811.  Died 10 June 1841 in a Quarry accident and the Prince Rock Quarry, Charles the Martyr, Plymouth, Devonshire.  I believe that he was buried at Charles Church but have no proof.  I have found that they moved all the graves from Charles Church in the 1950s to Efford.  I'd like to know if he was originally buried in Charles Church and if he is now in Efford.

Thank you

Hi

Welcome to rootschat

The parish register for Charles the Martyr does give his burial there on 13 June 1841 age 30.

Thank you.  How can I find if he was moved to Efford?

Something else--So I saw that record on FamilySearch yesterday.  My concern is that it's Find A Grave and anyone can can add a grave (great service, but I don't 100% trust it).  If you look on this one, he is the only person listed in this Cemetery.  And there is no real cemetery information listed.  This tells me that a descendant entered the information to honor him.  This is great, but doesn't give me the proof I'm looking for.

I do have this https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KC91-1NQ?treeref=LC54-8DW%3Bhttps%3A%2F%2Ffamilysearch.org%2Ftree%2F%23view%3Dancestor%26person%3DLC54-8DW&from=lynx1

which lists the burials in the Parish but doesn't list where he was buried.

FindMyPast have the burial registers for Charles the Martyr.

Sorry I cannot help with whether the grave was moved.  There is however this which appears to be held at SOG

I have to agree with you about findagrave information can be added by anyone without being substantiated, a bit like online family trees.  ;)  Like everything the information should always be verified.  I only posted the link as I spotted it when looking for information for you.

Thank you so much for your help. I truly appreciate it.  I'm going to contact the Efford Cemetery and see what they have.  Sounds like that may be my best option.
