Harry Landau

My great grandfather Harry Landau was of German/Polish descent and moved to London possibly in the 1890's.  He was born in 1877 and died 6 August 1917.  He married Elizabeth Walsh on 4 September 1898. He appears on the 1911 census but not on the 1901 census.  The omission could be due to a spelling mistake in transcription of the surname although his wife and first child John appear on the 1901 census at Elizabeth's parents address in Bethnal Green. 
How can I find out more about his origins, when he travelled to England etc and anything else?

Do you know the name and occupation of his father from his marriage certificate?

The marriage cert is online and lists Harry and his father Morris Landau as tailors

I wonder if this could be the father Morris in 1901 - listed as a tailor -Living in St Martin in the Fields London??
