Hi everyone. Happy New Year! I hope someone has info re my family members william (bill) and his wife Lily who immigrated to aus 1951. They came from canvey island in Essex and I have an address in wyong on thier arrival I believe  they ended up in Hurstville. Unfortunately although they had their children with them I. Don't know names. Bill was 57 lily was 51

Mr W. Ballard, motor driver, age 53 and Mrs W. Ballard, age 51 sailed from the port of London, aboard the Oronsay,  on 16 May 1951. Address of both "Canvey Island, Essex" - destination Sydney.

I cannot see any other Ballards aboard the Oronsay for that trip

The passenger list image that  I can see gives their ages as  William 57 and Lily 53.   

If you can find Lily's maiden name you can hunt for any children. Did the couple marry in England?

Thanks nanny Jan.  Yes they did marry in UK.  Will now get down to tracing their children. They were shopkeepers on canvey which may jog someone's memory

Just speculating --- There is a marriage in Thurrock reg district Dec qtr 1948 that might be that couple and a possible birth in 1929 for the male giving mothers maiden name Horsman.
