I am researching my scottish ancestors. My 2nd greatgrandfather is Ewen (Hugh) Macdiarmid (McDermid) B 29/7/1827 at Glen Avour Ardnamurchan Argyll scotland. D 19/10/1910 Palmers Island Clarence River NSW Australia

Hi my ancestors are MacDermids/Mcdermids ..the macdiarmid spelling does occur in some earlier censuses an d certificates

My grandfathers family were born in Burn Butts ,Glasgow lanarkshire area of Csotland and ended up all over the world

The macdairmds had large families + cousins often had same names ..good luck in your search ...

I don't think we had Argyll connections but will check my records ..I haven't gone very far back coe i was looking for living cousins for my aunt ; ancestors were Malcolm son of Duncan  close links to the Mcfarlane families  .

There's a tree on FamilySearch (maybe it's yours?) which has him born in 1825 to parents Donald (1793-1883) and Mary née Stewart (1791-1873), showing the following siblings:

No idea of course how accurate it is!
