Fishmongers would fit very neatly with the firm of Orman (Fishmongers) of St Alban's Row in Carlisle around 1905. They were noted for their oysters. I believe there may be a family link to the name McGlasson of Bowness. but have no evidence of this, just a vague recollection.

There is a Robert ORMAN who was a fishmonger at St Alban's Row, Carlisle b. 1832 Maryport, Cumberland, who my father believed was the brother of John ORMAN b. 1826 Bowness on Solway (died 1868 Ipswich), but I am finding it difficult to link them. They both have parents called James and Elizabeth, but not sure if they are same ones as the spelling changes from ORMAN, ORMOND, and ORMEROD. I have guessed at James ORMAN b. 1801 London (baptised Colchester) and Elizabeth ? b. 1806 in Cumberland.
In 1841 Botchergate, Carlisle, Elizabeth, a fishmonger, is with Robert aged 9 and Isabella 15, but no mention of John who would be 14, or husband James, who may have died as I cannot find him again.
Robert's wife Jane (Tait) and sons William and James continued as fishmongers, but they died 1887, 1893 and 1894.
The puzzle broadens. Many thanks for your input, I didn't know the fishmongers were still going in 1905.

Thank you so much. The information is really helpful. I had found a few of the Ormerods along the way but was having difficulty working out who belonged to which parents  :)

Any more information about the earlier Ormerods, especially James and Elizabeth, would be greatly received. I have no idea where they came from or where they were married.
