John Moore born 1781 (Liverpool?)
« on: Saturday 09 January 16 04:56 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I'm searching for a birth for my ancestor John Moore born abt 1781.He died in 1839 at Grimshaw Court,Denison Street,Liverpool. His death certificate states age 58.A short Obituary in the Liverpool Mercury newspaper also states the same age.I (or Liverpool records office) cannot find a burial for him.Assuming his age is correct,he was born abt 1781.I cannot find a Liverpool birth for 1781 though.Any suggestions would be most welcome as I don't know where to look for him.He is my oldest ancestor and my tree has ground to a halt.

Could that be the son of the John, d. 1839 aged 58?

Hi all,

Thanks for all your input. He married Margaret Dodd in 1801.The other (later than 1839) deaths are his son and grandson(wife Sarah).John (born 1781 & died 1839)had 9 children to add to the confusion.
The John Moors born 1782 is a possibility but how could I confirm this for sure??
I hope I've answered all the questions. All your help and advice is and will be much appreciated!!

Hi all,

by some kind of miracle I found my John Moore today. Although he died in Liverpool, he appears to have been buried(and born) in Bidstone Cheshire. I found a burial 4 days after his death which is the exact same age. As I could not find a Liverpool birth or burial(nor could Liverpool records office)I'm fairly confident I've got the right person.
If this information is correct, he was born in Bidstone in 1781 and his mother is listed as Catherine Moors on the baptism. The only problem now is finding a father. Any thoughts?
I have been searching on and off for over a year on this and just made a small breakthrough but am now stuck without a fathers name:(

if his mother was unmarried there may be some record if she went to the parish for relief , and named his father,
worth checking with the archives
