James Slack. 3 yrs searching, please help
« on: Sunday 10 January 16 16:44 GMT (UK) »
I have tried in vain  to find James Slack's place of birth and also who his parents were.  I have 2 places of birth.  Wildborclough Macclesfield & Norbury Staffordshire. This could also be Knotbury as it is next to Wildborclough.  James was born around 1824 and lived most of his life in Sutton Macclesfield, after Marrying Margaret Kemp in 1854.He was a calico printer and died on the 13th February 1898 in Sutton Macclesfield.  I have searched and searched without success, and I wonder if anyone is going to Chester, or even Staffordshire record office and could do a bit of searching for me there.  I would be most grateful.   I have got no where even after joining Ancestry

Eileen Slack   Thank you.

Norbury (Wharf) is a junction for the Canal system - James family probably travelled by boat.

I now think that James Slack was born in Knotbury, which is near Wildborclough Macclesfield,.  Although Macclesfield is in Cheshire Knotbury is on the border of Staffordshire. His father was also called James and was a labourer, James' birth and his mother are unknown to me
