Ann Duncan(b. 1809) and William Mackie(b. 1806).
« on: Monday 11 January 16 04:07 GMT (UK) »
I need to find the parents of Ann Duncan, born 1809 in Kincardineshire, Scotland and married a William Mackie 1806-1870, they had a son Duncan Duthie Mackie  in 1849. Any information will help.

Also need to find the parents of William Mackie 1806-1870, I think he was born in Aberdeen, he married a Ann Duncan 1809- 1882 and had at least one son Duncan Duthie Mackie in 1849. Any info on family and parents would be great.
Thanks Robert

Do you know if Ann was previously married? I ask because a birth date of 1809 would make her 37 at marriage and 40 for the birth of Duncan. Not unknown but if it was my family I would investigate some more :)

The other point I noticed was the middle name of Duthie. That is a surname and could lead to the identity of either William Mackie and a parent or Anns birth name or one of her parents

Hi Robert ,

If Ann and William died in Scotland then the death certificates , to the best knowledge of the informant , should contain the names of the parents.

Thanks DavidGO2 & Ev, Duthie is certainly a family name as Duncan Duthie Mackie b1849 had a son and he was also named Duncan Duthie b.1873. From what we know Duthie was William's G/Mother's maiden name. The name Nigg appears on some paperwork that we do have, so it looks as if this could be the birthplace of Duncan Snr. Is Nigg near Aberdeen. Many thanks to you both for the help.

Hello bleighto,
Ann Mackie other name Duncan died 1882 at Nigg, Kincadine aged 73yrs. (ScotlandsPeople)
     Possible death for William:
William Mackie died 1870 at Nigg, Kincardine aged 64yrs. (ScotlandsPeople)
As 'ev' has already said, these DCs should give parent's names, including mother's maiden name, if known to the informant.
If you are not familiar with ScotlandsPeople, give a shout.
               Regards,    Dod.
Added. See these dates are on the headstone details 'ev' has posted.
