Richard Lloyd, Sea Captain b abt 1800
« on: Tuesday 12 January 16 02:47 GMT (UK) »
I realize that this is a total shot in the dark with a name like Richard Lloyd but I will throw it out there in the hopes that somebody in Wales might have a piece of the puzzle.

Richard Lloyd was my 2GF.  Most of what is know of him is from family lore - no evidence.

Richard was the original emigrant to Canada for our branch of the family tree.  According to family lore he and his brother were "pirates".  The obituary for my GGF Charles says that he was a "Sea Captain".  He seems to have settled in the Hamilton On area where his three children were born.  The only pieces of direct evidence for him are:
  • the marriage cert of his son Richard and
  • parish records for the baptism of his daughter Ann
His wife on both these records is "Dorothy".
In my GGF's obit Ann is referred to as my GGF's half sister so there is another Mrs Lloyd around somewhere.  I'm assuming, since Ann is the elder, that Dorothy is Richards first wife.

The family were orphaned at "a very early age".

Is there anyone with a Lloyd family tree in Wales where a "Richard" goes missing around 1820-1830?  If so I would love to chat with you.
