James Spence 1808/1882
« on: Friday 15 January 16 14:45 GMT (UK) »
I have found in my research that James Spence (b 1808 in Auchterhouse d 1882 in Balmoral Place, Edinburgh) is my 2 x Great Grandfather. I think (!) I know that he married Christina McGlashan in Kinnoull, Perth in April 1833. As I live in Worcestershire my research is limited to the internet. Can anyone give me any details of the Spence or McGlashan families? One of their children, David, spent most of his life in Edinburgh but was born in England in 1849. This is how I came to find myself with a Scottish background!!
I would appreciate whatever help is available.
Dave

Hi Dave

On the internet, via www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk, have you viewed James Spence and Christina McGlashan's death certs, if they both died in Scotland? You can try to extend their families with confirmation on their parents' names. Scottish death certs give you both father and mother's names, if known to the informant.

Have you found them on the censuses up to their deaths?
