« on: Tuesday 19 January 16 00:24 GMT (UK) »
My mother was born in 133 Balornock Rd Glasgow on 30th December 1929,she was fostered to the woman I know as my Gran in 1930 in Maybole Ayrshire. Her natural Mum was a lady called Jean Macdonald(farm servant)who lived at 110 Blackburn Street Glasgow,I'm assuming it was in Springburn because thats where her birth was registered on January 28th 1930 by Wm Donaldson(registrar).I can find no information about her or Balornock Rd.Can anyone help me.RichardG

Check google maps for Balornock Road. It looks to be the road that Stobhill Hosptial is situated on - perhaps she was born in the hospital? A bit of digging might find out if the hospital was at 133 in 1929.

I looked at the Valuations for 1925 and 110 Blackburn was a shop and house with 14 units no MacDonald's.  Two doors down at 106 was a shop run by a Mrs. Marg. MacDonald, Grocer.  But please keep in mind, there were a lot of MacDonalds on Blackburn.

That's brilliant. The story that was told was that Jean Macdonald was a young farm servant(thats on my mothers birth certificate)and she fell pregnant to the farmer or his son and the baby was given away, your information gives me more to work on,thank you,it looks like a big problem if there were so many Macdonalds.I couldn't find anything to do with Jean in Edinburgh Register House<I dont have a date of birth

Hi Richard,

Did Jean register the birth herself or someone else?

Jean could be also be Janet or Jane.

Richard, try again and see if there was a claim for child maintenance,

Maybe the Mitchell Library might have something, "Virtual Mitchell".
