Middlesex quarter sessions of Peace records 27 May 1805
« on: Friday 29 January 16 04:59 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find some information about the conviction of Mary Miller at the Middlesex Quarter Sessions of Peace on 27th May 1805. She was sentenced to 7 years transportation and arrived in Australia on 29th August 1806 on board the convict ship 'Alexander'. There are records for her as a convict here in Australia but no mention of the 'crime' she committed. Can you tell me how I can access the Quarter Sessions records given that I live in Australia and I can't find them online? Many thanks for any help - very much appreciated  :)

Hi,
FindMyPast has the records.

Convicted of petit larceny, and ordered to be transported beyond the seas for the term of 7 years. May Session 1805.
Held in Newgate Prison.

Thank you both so much - what a quick reply to my query! Poor little Mary - 7 years for such a small crime. I have another convict ancestor who was sentenced to death for stealing a horse but commuted to Life in the Colonies. But nevertheless, they both made the best of their lives out here. Thanks again  :)
