'Lily' can also be short for Elizabeth - Queen Elizabeth is known as Lilibet, aka Lily? This may explain Elsie Elizabeth being Elsie Lily, or just Lily? All very confusing when Edith Lilian may also have been known as Lily ???

I have not read much of this thread but offer this.
My mother (Elizabeth) was known in her family as Lily Bet, it is not a huge leap to imagine a registrar recording Lily Bet as Lily Elizabeth.

I haven't found Charles E & Edith L M Prickett in the 1939 register yet. Her dob would be useful to eliminate or consider her. Otherwise it's the marriage cert...

Have looked for Prickett deaths too but not found either of them yet. They too would give an indication of age for that Edith.

A Lily Edith M Nicholls died in Thurrock, Essex in 1987 born around 1908 ( Edith Lilian M was born 1909). Possible.

Oh dear me! payday today. Good thing too by the looks of the amount of certificates I may need to buy!

I did look at the pricket marriage briefly some years ago but I just disregarded it. It may be time to buy a certificate for that one. Didn't want to read and just go off to bed. Will doubles check romorrow!.

The army record of Ernest West ( father of Elsie and Edith) is on Ancestry. It gives dob of all the children. Elsie was 13th April 1904 and Edith was 9th August 1909. Death entry for Elsie/ Lily says she was born on 19th August 1909. This is a puzzle!!

Lilian and William are together in 1939 ( living with Tyson). Lilian's date of birth is 19/8/1909.
