If I know an address, how do I find the person living there on any of the censuses?

Hi,
I don't know about Ancestry but Findmypast have the ability to search the 1901 and 1911 by address. They also have a search box for  the Street in some censuses.  If you can find one census then sometimes it is possible to search near neighbours on other censuses to get a result, though people did move around a lot back then.

Another way is to use newspaper searches of the address. Depending on the country and the building type you may find sales or comments in the papers from the area you seek.

This can also help identify a person. :)

The Genealogist (http://www.thegenealogist.co.uk/ ) has an address search facility for all the England & Wales censuses 1841-1911.

Contemporary street directories are also useful.

On Ancestry, using the first line of the address as a keyword in an otherwise blank search can bring up useful results, for instance from electoral rolls and telephone directories.
