Hi KGarrad, the details that came through to me said 1922 for the marriage, which is why I replied it was too early. So is the marriage date 1932? because yes that would make him 20... I will have a look...very many thanks.

Hello Radcliff, that's wonderful to hear that you found your Grandfather. I don't mind hard work... How do you contact Barnardos? And do you know what other kinds of organisations were around in the 1920s, to help place children (possibly a teenager) with other families? Thank you for your suggestions.

 Just a thought :(
Many children were sent off to Canada at that time and became British Home Children.
Could Charles have been one of them?

Good thinking rolnora ... Charlie (DOB 19.09.1912) certainly seems to have 'disappeared' from the family's knowledge, so it's possible he was sent overseas. The British Home Children search facility doesn't have his name, but there are many missing. Can't find him on any transatlantic boat. Could do with the 1931 census of Canada, but that's not available yet. Does anyone please know how to search Canadian deaths for a Charles Denney? I don't have that ability...

Hi,
The Canada board might prove helpful in finding Charles for you.
You could try a post on there and if you could link it to this post it would help other members who might be searching to know where your coming from.  :)

Appreciated - I didn't know there was a Canada board (I'm still finding my way round this marvellous site!) I will try and post something up there, thanks for the idea :-)

Just adding this to an old post, in case anyone picks it up in the future: I have found this Charles Denney (b.1912), he was taken to Ireland from Birkenhead, most probably to a town called 'Hollywood' just outside Dublin. Survived and had children.
