The date in the Historic building listing is probably a typo.  The Bucks Herald 08 Feb 1884 reported the case of a theft involving two sacks of barley against "George Lambourn the landlord of The Swan, Dudswell...." and a number of others.  The evidence reported states "Inspector Parish..... went to Dudswell...... He went up into the loft of George Lambourn, at the Swan, Dudswell, which is beside the towing path of the canal.....".

An earlier case of May 3 1882 against "George Lambourn, landlord of the Swan, Dudswell" for "permitting drunkeness on his licensed premises" provides a description of the buildings location.  "William Moody came running down the steps and across the road, and but for a rail would have fallen into the lock of the canal".
