Slaters of Cheshire and Doveridge Derbyshire

Can anyone link William Slater (1757 - 1814) of Weaverham Cheshire to the Slaters in Doveridge Derbyshire at that time?

Can you give more information?  Was he born and buried in Weaverham  & What makes you think there is a link ?

He was born in Weaverham and died in Doveridge. He married Martha Warburton (who was born in Rostherne, Cheshire) in 1809, in Bowdon, Cheshire, and died in 1814. Martha remarried to Sampson Bridgewater and is buried in St Cuthberts, Doveridge in the same grave as both her husbands. There is a grave transcript on the church website.

In 1851, Martha who had a home in Lane End Stoke on Trent, is staying with her daughter in Bollin Fee, Cheshire.

There are precious few Bridgwoods in Cheshire but there are scores of Slaters in both Cheshire and Doveridge.

In 1777, Ellen Slater b1757, father William Slater b1730, married John Slater b1750 or 1756 and their daughter married Richard J Bridgewood in 1795 in Doveridge.

Where is the Cheshire connection?

Are the dates from your first message right?    The burial records gives his birth date as 1788 not 1757

You mentioned her address was Lane End, there are a couple of Slater burials in Doveridge that give their abode a Lane End.

28 May 1821 Richard Slater, Lane End aged 8
1 Sep 1824 John Slater, Lane End, died at the parish of Checkley aged 68

13 Jul 1834 Eliza Bridgwood, Lane End, aged 6 months
