Hi Kempin,

Welcome to Rootschat :)

It dependends on who you are trying to trace.
What we do not do here is trace living people, as RootsChat is meant for finding ancestors, rather than living people.

If you are trying to trace living people, then people here will be able to give you general tips and hints how to proceed, but not any concrete details.

You will also find more tips here:

Topic: Tracing Living Relatives
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,261434.0.html
and
Topic: Searching for living relatives and Rootschat
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,142443.0.html

If the people you are trying to trace died long ago, then the answer is yes, just start a new topic giving as many details as you can.

Regards,
Bob

. . . . . and you only need to post once.

If you duplicate your request (in effect the same request) over a number of different areas (eg Devon , Dorset, Hampshire) then you will not only cause duplication of research/time/effort but also " frustrate " [  :-X ] the researchers trying to assist you.

By all means post the request in the different areas but point to a "centralised" one.

Welcome to Rootschat !
There are quite a few people waiting to help,
but please remember that we are ALL volunteers.

AND, don't hold back on information you already have [ have I already, in effect, said that ?  ::) ]

Regards

Ray

If you are looking for possible living people then why not post on Missing-You.net ?
You can always refer, here, that you are looking for "x" on Missing-you.net
You will get a doubled benefit that a separate group of people will/may help.

Hi Bob
The person I am interested in served in the 1st ww.
I am a metal detectorist. A colleague found a silver war medal that I have traced to the recipient. We thought that the descendants might be interested in receiving it back into the family. Do you think that they could be traced from the army  record information that I hold?
Hope that this is the right way to go about it
