Hi

Have you downloaded a copy of the 1858 marriage cert to establish both sets of parents names plus mothers maiden names

Same info is also available on his death cert

www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Does parental info correspond with this entry on FS

There is an 1841 entry for Ardrossan for a 10yr old John Fyfe - parents John & Elisabeth both b Ayrshire - have you seen it?

This is the same family and I don't have the papers in front of me but the name Ardrossan is ringing a bell.
Thank you so  much for your help
