Walcot, Bath lookup request - Did these children die before 1837? -
« on: Tuesday 16 February 16 11:27 GMT (UK) »
I am still seeking the two sons and a daughter of Edmund Pow & Susanna Greenland who married 7 Oct 1824 St. Swithen, Bath.

1)   William Pow baptised 29 May 1836 St. Swithen
2)   John Pow born about 1835 – no other information about him yet.
3)    Anne Pow baptised 26 Dec 1830 St. Swithen

I have not found them in any of the censuses and hope someone can help further.

Any lead or link would be welcome.

Possible that surname has been mis-transcribed for census..

Bath Directory for 1860-61 lists an Edmund POW, carpenter, at Norfolk Place, James St.

On that basis I suggest this is likely to be your family (despite different surname) in 1861:

3 Norfolk Place, James St, Walcot, Bath

Edmund POWELL Head Mar 42 carpenter Somerset Walcot
Susan do Wife Mar 59 Wilts Devizes
William do Son Unm 23 Labourer at gas works Somerset Walcot
Frances do Daur 5 Scholar Somerset Walcot

Thank you both for searching for me, you have helped me to search further. :D :D

I did not try Powell for my searches, a totally different surname for me. ;)

For Pow I have come across Powe, Poe and Pod to name a few...... ;D

A possibility for the son Thomas in 1861 - note the address (though I don't know whether Albion Buildings is the same as the Albion Cottages which were the family's abode when he was baptised).

5 Albion Buildings, Walcot

Emily do Wife Mar 27 Gloucestershire Donnington
Thomas W. do Son 11mo Bath.
