John Thomas Perkins Birmingham, born 1820
« on: Thursday 18 February 16 15:58 GMT (UK) »
Hey,

I've traced my family back to John Thomas Perkins, who lived in Heneage Street in Birmingham. He was born in 1820 and was married to Martha.  I think he was a weaver in 1841, and subsequently became an Engine Driver.  I'm interested in learning more about his past if anyone can help, and also about Martha (I don't have her maiden name).

The birth cert of one of the children (the one you are descended from would be the natural choice) will give mothers maiden name.

Thanks Bev, that's them ok. I thought I had seen Weaver on the 1841 census. Subsequent to this he became a trainer driver. 5 years later his son Thomas was born, and he would in turn come to Ireland to work on then Railyways.

John and Martha certainly started young on the kids!

Don't forget that adults' ages were rounded down.  They could have been anything between 20 and 24 when the census was taken.

Their ages are correct - I know from their ages at death; they both lived to a good age, 82 and 83
