So James's father named on the record.
I wonder who Martha was named after?  Usually after her father or mother's mother.  So, I wonder was George's mother called Martha, as Lizzie's mother was Mary.  Will keep looking.  I can't find George and Elisabeth, Eliza or Lizzie on the 1881 census in Scotland.

John Hunniford Armstrong, aged 28, father Alexander of Kilbracks married Maria Armstrong (35), father George of Drumalaragh, in Armagh Registry Office on 12 Sep 1907.
I think this if probably your Alexander who was 69 in 1890, so old enough to have married two or even three times!!

Take your time and digest it all, then see what you think.  I feel that these armstrongs were related to my late husband whose grandmother was an Armstrong from drumgane.

Hey sorry to burst in on your post but I think we may have the same Armstrong's.  My G grandfather was John Armstrong (called Alex) his parents were George Armstrong and Elizabeth Robb who were married at Drumharif in Co Armagh.  George was resident and died in Hardwood Asylum.
George and Elizabeth's parents are both listed as being Alexander and Mary McQuillie which is confusing.
Do we have the same ones?

Hi Lynn,
Oh! yes we have the same connection me through George and Elizabeth daughter Martha who had an illegitimate son in the Glasgow Poorhouse, James Armstrong my Grandfather. I have a paper trail back to Ireland to verify this. Does this mean we are cousins?
