need help: JEWELL/JOEL Arthur Albert dob 6/4/1845
« on: Tuesday 23 February 16 18:53 GMT (UK) »
Have an Arthur Albert Jewell or Joel born 6/4/1845 to John and Caroline Jewell. Looking for his marriage details. His son Ernest Henry Joel was a homechild shipped to Canada in 1906 via the Fegans homes. On his Marriage certificate he lists his father as Arthur Albert Joel and his mother as Edna Wilson. I cannot find any marriage records for Arthur at all...I have seen an Albert Jewell married to a Susan Singleton but not sure if this is the same family.

I see that 6 April 1845 is that date on which Arthur Jewell was baptised (not born) at Siddington, Gloucestershire.

How have you identified this Arthur as the father of Ernest?

There is another researcher on Rootschat (username Greaves) who has done a lot of work on the Jewell families of Siddington.

I see he married as Earnest Henry Joel aged 23 on 8 April 1918 - giving his birthplace as Woodstock, Ontario.

I can see Ernest aged 7 living in Gloucestershire with Arthur and siblings in 1901 including a brother William aged 10.  I can see William JOEL of Gloucestershire aged 15 going to Canada in 1906 but I can't see Ernest - what ship did he travel on?

Susan is not with the family in 1901 but Arthur is married, not widowed, and I think she died in 1897.

I can't see Arthur using 'Arthur Albert' at all, just Arthur.
