Robert,

If his birth was post 1864 and registered (estimated around 20% weren't) he'll be in the indexes. They are available on film at your local family history centre and at the GRO in Dublin.

Regards

Kate

Hi Catherine

Hope you can point me in the right direction to trace my ancestors details as follows:

Robert Scanlon c1829 Dublin occupation Tailor
Catherine Fay c1830   Dublin

I can trace them in Bradford/Leeds/Wakefield from 1861,1871,1881 to their deaths in 1889 and 1890.

Their children were born from around 1854 and were christened and married in the Roman Catholic church St Mary's Bradford.

I can't find a marriage record for them on the registration index.

Can you suggest where I start looking for their marriage/birth records.

Thanks in anticipation

Katebray,

I am not sure if you can help me.

My great great grandmother was called Elizabeth Ada Littlejohns (nee mansfield) In 1919 she was performing on stage in Dublin (unsure which theatre) and collapsed she was rushed to Hospital and died. She was actually from London. She used the stage name Vida Varrell.

If you can help with anything on this death it would be great.

Also I am really stuck trying to locate my great grandfather Grosvenor Ashford Clarke he was a dramatic actor. In 1920 he supposedly married my great grandmother Irene Littlejohns a singer (can't find the marriage anywhere) the daugther of the lady above. They had four children a daughter in 1921, a son in 1922 and twins (boys) in 1924 one of which was my grandfather.

As Irene's mother and father was in Dublin in 1919, it is quite possible she was with them and this is where she met him, he does not exist anywhere in English or Scottish records, and is causing me real problems, as he is the main person I am interested in finding out about.

Grosvenor I assume would of been born somewhere between 1890 - 1900.

You possibly won't be able to help me on any of the above, but anything is worth a try.

regards,
Siobhan

Hello from Canada!
My grandfather Alban Linley Bird was born in Dublin, 1894 to Joseph and Edith Bird (nee: Challen) at Leinster Rd, Rathmines.  He appears on the 1901 Census but is not on the 1911.  Was disowned.  I am trying to get more information on Joseph, a middle name or his parents names (he was from Kent/she,  Brighton Sussex)  Is there anyplace you could possibly look up the Bird side of the family?  A later Census perhaps?  Alban Linley's brothers and sisters: Godfrey, Eileen, Harold Theodore, Edith Mabel and Amy Dorothy.  Thanks for your valuable time...

Hi,

What details do you have for Joseph and Edith Bird on the 1901 census? This will give a year of birth and an estimate of year of marriage to go back further in the registers, either Endland or Ireland.

The latest released census is 1911. You say the Bird family have moved from the Rathmines address by then? What profession did he have? Perhaps he is in the Dublin postal directories.

Hi katebray,

I having been struggling with tracing Beverley Smyth and his wife Bridget. He appears in the Dublin Directories, 1851 census and Griffith registration ready married about 1850 in South Anne St and I have his children's RC baptisms in St Andrews but where did he come from and where did they marry? Any clues in your database?

Thanks
