Birth lookup

I have two birth dates and I'm not sure exactly which one is correct! is there some way I can check please without purchasing birth certificates as I'm not exactly sure of parents.
Looking for Nellie Barker I though she was born 10 Nov 1879 in Rotherham, Yorkshire but I can't trace this.  The 2 options I have narrowed it down to are:  qtr 4 1876 Rotherham vol 9C  page 630 and qtr 4 1879 Leicester vol 7a 219

Hi,
Do you know when she died. I've sometimes been lucky finding an exact date of birth on the death register. You also have three years difference in the dates - have you checked the censuses after her birth.
I'm sure you will get much better ideas on this Board, everyone is so helpful but in the meantime - you never know!

Have you tried with just the surname for the quarter and place you think is correct?

She might be under Helen or Ellen for example not Nellie

There's an Eleanor Barker registered Rotherham Mar 1880 as a possible but without being sure of her parents census checking might be difficult 

What else do you know about her - did she marry?

I can't see Nellie of the right age in the area on the 1881 or 1891 census - where are we working from with this person and how sure of you of the date of birth and birth place?

No she didn't marry as I understand. I know she lived in Rotherham,  but I have found her in Matlock on 1939 register, living with whom I thin is her great niece, (the daughter of her sister)

Who is her sister - maybe we can find her on censuses and work out who Nellie is and when/where she was born?

The daughter of her sister would be her niece rather than her great niece
