I also read the newspaper article  but this Daniel Kirk seems to be a little bit too old as he was born in 1764.  The marriage to Elizabeth Cooper was in 1799 and Sarah Kirk was not born until 1813.   He would have been 49 then - of course it`s possible, but I think it is unlikely unless he had a very young wife.

If he died aged 54/55 in 1829 then he was born c 1774, and would have been aged c25 at marriage & 39 when Sarah was born

Not necessarily.  It all depends on how the question re: father is asked or information given/recorded.

Numerous instances found where the father is not shown as deceased - but was.

EDIT

You appear to have edited your post above.  You asked if the grooms father was deceased - would that be shown on the marriage cert

I am new in this forum so don`t know if I am doing things correctly.  Please send me more details about the death of Daniel Kirk aged 71  who was buried 6 Feb 1816 at Loughborough All Saints.  Or send me the link where I can find this.
Many thanks.

Hi Jane

The only information I have on the burial of Daniel Kirk aged 71 is from a CD produced by Leicestershire & Rutland FHS, which is an index only and so only gives minimal information.  There may be more information in the actual Parish Register, but this is usually limited to abode and possibly occupation.

If you place a Look Up request on the Leicestershire boards someone may be able to provide you with the full transcript.

Added: Familysearch has a baptism of a Daniel Kirk in Loughborough on 21 Sep 1744, son of Samuel.

Hi Jomot,
What do you mean by the Leicester boards?  Can you send me a link please? I am not in the UK.
Thank you.

You should see a strip near the top of this page, underneath the Rootschat banner.  Select Forum, then scroll down to England, then Leicestershire. Click into there and at the top is Leicestershire Look-up Requests.

If you cant find it then this should take you there:
