William McGuinness b. c1831 d. 1906 New South Wales.
« on: Saturday 27 February 16 23:32 GMT (UK) »
I have been trying to trace my GG Grandfather for many years.
The last official details is that his  Son,William McGuiness'sMarriage certificate states his name as;
William McGuiness married to Mary Hancock in April 1870 in Victoria Creek Victoria:
His death certificate states he died 14th February 1906 near Canbelego New South Wales, His mother is listed as "not known"& his father as "McGuinness"he was 75 years old when he died, he had 10 living children & 1 deceased. I would love to find details on William McGuinness, where he came from. I realize it is difficult without a mother's name or father's Christian name, but have come to the decision that William may have been an orphan.
Thank you for any information you can come up with

Sorry, but I am confused.

If William died in 1906 aged about 75, so born about 1830, why are you looking for occupants of orphanages in 1911?

Added:
Arrrggghhhh.  Double sorry.

Just realised pompet is a different query.

I believe that the the two deaths is one and the same at COBAR NSW 1906.
William McGuinness, 75 years, at Cobar, Ref# 972/1906
and
William McGUINNESS, Father Thomas, Mother Sarah J, at Cobar, Ref # 12201/1906.

From what I can make out if the right couple William and Mary, then the births of the children all over the back blocks of NSW give an indication of his doing work on properties or traveling as a supplier.
It may be worth getting a full transcription of the last DC as it may contain how long in the colony and from where he came.

They are not the same person, the first died 14 February and the second died on 25 October.

Have you seen the marriage entry from the church register yet?

Where was William born?  This should be recorded in the church entry, on his death certificate or on the birth certificate of a child.

You did not answer JM's question:

From your copy of the 1906 NSW dc, some questions if I may.    What information on that document for:
 :)  how old was William,
 :)  where born,
:)  how long in the colonies,
 :)  where was he buried

Cheers,  JM
