A marriage or death for Anna Maud Saunders
« on: Thursday 03 March 16 11:19 GMT (UK) »
Anna Maud Saunders was born on 22 July 1894 in Wortwell, Norfolk to Walter James and Rosetta Saunders (info from her Baptism on 29 July 1894).

In 1901 she's living in Mendham, Suffolk with her mother, father, sister Agnes and brother James. I think I have her census for 1911 working as a servant in Norfolk. Her brother James is living in Gravesend with his aunty and I can't find any other family member for 1911 (to know where family members were living in later years).

On the 1939 register, James is still living in Gravesend and Agnes is living in Lewisham where she's been from at least 1931 judging from electoral rolls.

I'm 2 and 5 with this family. I'm just looking for Anna right now as I have a few days left on my FindMyPast subscription and can view the 1939 register, although I'm beginning to give up hope she's there. I've tried every search I can think of.

Thank you, but I've ruled this one out as she's living with a William Saunders in the 1939 register so it would be her married name.

I'm getting confused?

She was born Anna Maud Saunders in 1896.
And you say she married before 1939?

To whom, and when? What was her married name?

No the death you suggested was to an Annie M Frost who married William Saunders. I don't know if my Annie has been married. My Annie was born in 1894.

What happened to sister Agnes? Did she marry? If so, was Anna a witness at her marriage? Either as Saunders or with a married surname herself?   Or, if Agnes didn't marry, when did she die? Informant at her death? Not unusual to find spinster sisters together in old age. Did she leave a Will, possibly naming sister (if still alive) or nieces and nephews as beneficiaries?

Hi lizdb. Agnes didn't marry. She had a daughter out of wedlock who was the informant on her death certificate in 1952. I don't think there's a will. I've traced her last 20 years through the electoral roll on Ancestry and she wasn't living with Anna. Agnes was however living with an Ada Greenwood from 1931 to 1939, and at first I thought this could somehow be Anna but now I think that was just wishful thinking. Thank you for the suggestions though.

I expect you have already tried but have you searched using her exact date of birth - or perhaps just the day and month?

Also the 1901 for her is written as "Hanna" something else to try.
