« on: Friday 04 March 16 13:40 GMT (UK) »
Hi just looking for help trying to find my granddads dad my granddad was born on the 22 Feb 1918 to Margaret Ward nee Ogden at 18 Dolmans Lane Warrington.
Margaret Ogden Married John Ward of 24 Dolmans Lane in 1911 Warrington I thought that john was my granddads dad until I found out that John had died on the 15 may 1913 and was buried at Warrington Cemetery on 19 may 1913 And when i got my granddads birth certificate there is nothing down for father the only other person on the certificate is Margaret's mum Mary Ellen Ogden.
Margaret did re-married to a Harold Alfred Jackson in Dec 1920.
Any help would be great

Well it's possible her second husband to be was the father but equally it could be someone she met between husbands.

If he isn't named on the birth certificate you will probably never know.

Does your George name a father when he himself gets married?

HI,

Welcome to RootsChat

If the father isn't listed on the birth certificate, it would be hard for you to try and prove who the father was. Who did grandad list as his father on his marriage cert ?

Greetings, and a warm welcome to Rootschat.

The likeliest option is that you will not be able to find George's father,  BUT - there is a slim possibility that if you can track a baptism record in a parish register that there may be a note of the father's name.

If George does name a father on his marriage certificate you can not assume that this information is accurate unless you can substantiate it from a second source.

Good hunting
