Aislabie, 1851
« on: Sunday 06 March 16 14:15 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for a chap whose surname was Aislabie and who was probably in the Charterhouse in Hull in 1851.  From subsequent deaths he would have been Thomas, James or John and over 60 years old.  I'd just like to confirm who he was, how old he was and anything it says about occupation.
Thanks.

Thanks, Stan, it could be him.  I know he was in the Charterhouse by 1854.  He was in the news because his son, John Aislabie, was one of the few survivors of the wreck of the merchant ship Tayleur, and he got a letter from John (who lost his wife and daughter) soon afterwards describing what had happened.
