Ferdinand Malherbe
« on: Monday 07 March 16 23:21 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,
I am new to this site so please advise me if I am getting this wrong.
I am looking for my 2nd GT grandfather Ferdinand Malherbe  who was born in France about 1846 and died in Jersey sometime between 1881 and 1891 possibly in St Peter, but after an extensive search I still cannot find any trace of him.
This is all that I know because by 1891 my 2nd Gt grandmother was a widow and she passed away in 1941 in St Helier and is buried at Mont a L'abbe.

Any help would be greatly Appreciated.

Regards

Steve Marett

Hi, and welcome to RootsChat  :)

Have you looked through the various indexes of deaths listed here?

The records in the subscription section of the Jersey Archive site are better than those on the island wiki. They show a Jacques Louis Ferdinand Malherbe dying in St Peter between July 1879 and April 1888. The French residents in Jersey usually had 2 or 3 christian names and used any one of them on census records.
I'll try and find out more later in the week.

Jacques Louis Ferdinand Malherbe died in the Coin Varin district of St Peter on April 28th 1884, he was 38 years old and worked as a Farmer. His cause of death was 'Pneumonie and Aigue' (Pneumonia and Fever)
Hope this helps

Thank you so very much for your help on this, I still have a few things to verify  but this is looking very promising, as I said I thought  the name Jacques Louis Ferdinand could be the right one but I couldn't find the year of death.
Once again Thank you.
